At Stoja Art Collection Gallery, we diligently follow and look forward to the successes of artists whose works also adorn the walls of our gallery. This time we share with you another achievement of the American artist Ross Bleckner, whose work Day and Night, Hour by Hour is the latest acquisition of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, which is known for its large encyclopedic collection of art from almost every continent and cultures.

The painting Day and Night, Hour by Hour is one of Bleckner's more recent works, from last year, 2023. The technique of the painting is oil on linen, a popular technique of the artist. It occupies 152.4 x 213.4 cm (60 x 84 inches) of a wall. You can find more information about the work on the museum's website.

In the last six months, we can add two more to the already long list of museums that exhibit and own Bleckner's works: one is in the USA at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, and the other is in Europe in to the Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, which houses the biggest names in art history from the 13th century onwards - Duccio, Caravaggio, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, Georgia O'Keeffe... You can find additional information about the Madrid acquisition here. To date, at age 45, Bleckner is the youngest artist to receive a mid-career retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. His paintings can also be found in MoMA and the Whitney Museum. He has participated in numerous other exhibitions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin; Reina Sofia, Madrid; Kunstmuseum Lucerne, Lucerne; and Zentrum Paul Klee, Berlin.

We already have seven works by Bleckner in our gallery, including the large canvas Prince/Frog, 2023, which rivals both the Madrid and Kansas acquisitions in size!

You can read or download more about the artist and his work here.
